  2. × no outfit post today since i *finally* had a lazy kind of relaxing weekend. i didn’t even leave the house! well, technically, i didn’t leave the property. i made dinner for MDH & our downstairs neighbors & had a nice evening sitting at our umbrella table in the back yard. the perfect end to a nonhectic, nontraveling weekend :)
so, i thought instead i’d feature some of my favorite jewelry pieces. being from hawaii, having this type of gold jewelry embedded with flowers & your name in black enamel is synonymous with being born! these are bangle bracelets that i actually got from my parents after my college graduation…one i believe is 3/4 inch thick & the other 1-inch thick.

  3. × this ring i also got from my parents.  it’s technically 3 rings…the gold flowery one with my name (which you can tell i’ve worn a lot as the black enamel for the “i” & part of the last “n” is wearing away) & the 2 ring guards.  i like how you can wear the 3 rings in different combinations or all separate or what not, but the order they are in now is pretty much the way i always wear them :)

  4. × finally, this plumeria bracelet i bought for myself i believe back in 2004, but i could be wrong, maybe an earlier trip. even though the hibiscus is the state flower of hawaii, to me (and i’m sure other hawaiians agree with me) the plumeria is the *unofficial* blossom of the islands. i grew up with a plumeria tree outside my grandparents’ house & i just always loved climbing it & the smells of the blooms. it’s still my absolute favorite hawaiian flower. i don’t even wear this bracelet very often. it’s precious to me, so i’m afraid of losing it. only for the *most* special of special occasions it comes out :)

  5. × one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.  even before the whole trend of the carrie necklace, it’s quite popular in hawaii to get this type of gold jewelry with your name in enamel. even small kids wear them! can you see the pretty engraved plumeria flowers?
